Character:Toboe
Canon: Wolf's Rain
Version: Anime
Canon Point: Episode 3
Age: unknown, appears to be young. in human form about 15. No idea how wolves age in this series.
Gender:Male
History: as it relates to the series as it relates to Toboe, and in case that's not enough here's the episode guide/
Personality: Toboe is very timid, but affectionate. He adores humans, and on multiple occasions throughout the series tries to nestle into human life and become someone's pet. However, he is unnaturally strong and this often prevents him from successfully reaching his goal. He was raised by an old woman, who he accidentally killed by jumping on her and knocking her over when she was bringing him food. He speaks of his life with her frequently and affectionately, making it clear he very much enjoyed being cared for rather than caring for himself. His next attempt to adapt into a human's pet also went rather poorly. After trying to win a young girl over by fetching her bird... he accidentally kills it. At first he doesn't seem to realize it's dead, cheerfully handing over the mangled corpse of the bird into the girls hands. It's not until he notices it's not moving a moment later that it seems to register what happened, when he tearfully tries to coax the bird to wake. He gets so distraught he loses his grasp on his disguise and reveals his wolf form, and has to be pulled away from the poor confused, terrified girl.
Toboe is, first and foremost, a wolf. His thoughts and actions are all taken from the simple perspective of an animal. His first worries are food, his first response to injuries is lick it (while he does show some basic knowledge of herbs in one episode, apparently in a bind, a little spit is the next best thing). He's very naive, like a child. This may be from his upbringing as someone's pet, he never picked up on reasons he should be distrustful of people, but at the same time he is afraid of EVERYTHING. He flees from birds and cowers from cats, yet will voluntarily wander up to a human for food.
While his first reaction to trouble is to run to someone else to help, rather than think up a solution on his own does not mean he can't fight. When no other option is given, and he doesn't have the option to run for help he can and will fight, though he will avoid it if he can. He is also capabel of "snapping" as he once phrased is. If he sees someone he cares about in trouble he will lose all inhibition and be unrelenting in his attack... however this scenario is very rare... and only occured when faces with the wrath of a giant walrus (don't laugh that bastard was HUGE and TERRIFYING).
Overall Toboe is a naive child with unnatural strength, and a heart of gold. He doesn't like conflict, and would much rather follow than lead. He also adores being pet and coddled like it's nobodies business. Just don't call him on it or he'll pout.
Fears:Everything. Toboe is a very timid animal, so really... it doesn't take much to frighten him. At all. However his more deeply set fears are of people hurting him, or him hurting other people. He doesn't like the idea of being alone either. He's young and very much feels the need to be taken care of and the assurance of others that things will be okay. all in all, if it will scare a child, it will scare Toboe.
Weaknesses: Unlike the other wolves of the series Toboe is very hesitant to hurt or kill, he will often simply stare at his attacker like a dear caught in the headlights, or simply scamper away with his tail between his legs to hide. Despite his super wolfy skills, if he is shot somewhere vital, or shot enough he will die... it is just very difficult to do so... well for the other wolves. Maybe not Toboe so much.
Mundane Strengths/Abilities: The wolves of this series are a super powered in comparison to regular wolves. They can run vertically up the sides of tall buildings and leap to heights pulling skills that would make Naruto jealous. Their teeth can bend iron bars, and they can heal unnaturally fast. There is one instance where the main character heals from being shot in the neck after only one night. And what would a super-powered wolf be without enhanced speed? These guys can run alongside a train like it was NOTHING. Then there's also the super powers of smell and sound. They are able to smell things from miles and miles away, and here things from a damn good distance as well. They are very strong as well, capable of breaking bones and killing a fully armed human in the blink of an eye.
Sensitivity/Magical Ability: The wolves of this series have a very bizarre ability to give themselves a human guise. The guise appears to be solid enough for casual touches such as backpats or handholding or maybe even a piggy-back ride to go unnoticed, but when attacking or trying to grab someone the person will feel the wolf rather than the human. As shown with another wolf who, while in one scene it appears as though he attacks someone with a hand weapon, the injury left behind is actually a set of claw marks. In another scene, while trying to pull up a boy from falling he grabs the boys shoulder- but the illusion is broken and the boy sees the wolf and feels the teeth rather than a human hand. Animals seem to be able to se through it, and the shadows of the wolves remain as wolves. Occasionally there are instances where the disguise seems to blip out for a moment, but after blinking it typically comes back.
Also if one is drunk enough they could possibly see through it a bit.
As super godmod wolves they seem to have some sort of a sixth sense, able to feel if something is 'off' and 'not right' or if it's 'pleasant' and safe.
Supply List: His pockets are a lie. He carries nothing.
Game Transfers:N/A
Sample RP post:
Toboe had been more than stunned at the sudden change in scenery, as he and the other wolves had been escaping the city. Not only had he just so abruptly ended up in a strange house, his companions had just disappeared. He couldn’t smell them or hear them at all. Other then the minor injury on his shoulder left from Tsume, it might have been doubtful that they had ever even been nearby.
Meekly he sniffed the air. He could smell humans... and a lot of other things, some familiar, but many not, but mostly humans, from what he could recognize anyway. That would probably mean that his human guise would be safer, so he quickly willed himself to appear as a human, and began to cautiously wander the halls.
“TSUMEEEE!? KIBAAA?! HIGEEE?!!!”
Alright, well maybe not cautiously, but he was lost, alone, and rather scared. Sure he could technically take on any humans that came at him... but that didn’t mean he wanted to. Besides, there were other things here. Other unfamiliar things. This whole place just gave him a bad feeling. He wanted to go home, to granny, but he knew that was impossible. His best bet was one of the other wolves, so despite already knowing they probably weren’t around, he continued to call for them as he wandered the halls.
